Summer is a Good Time for House Shopping
Daily Herald, July 16, 2005

With school out for the summer, thoughts of family trips to the beach, amusement parks, and zoo’s are top of mind. Riding around looking at homes might not make the grade.

However, those willing to do a little homework may find summer the best time to pack the backpacks and sharpen the pencils toward making an offer on a new home. Construction picks up speed in the summer months in Chicago.

Basically it’s easier and quicker to build homes in the warmer weather. Many builders begin building backlogs of inventory homes in late winter to complete more homes during summer.

For parents, getting in before school starts is paramount, said Gail Payonk, director of marketing for Wiseman Hughes Enterprises of Wheaton. We purposely begin a few additional homes in nearly every community to meet those last minute shoppers.

People needing a home this summer may want to look at Wiseman Hughes N.O.W program, designed especially for the last minute shoppers. Only five communities are participating the builders N.O.W program, which means “Need It or Want It” and comes with the additional incentive of buying a completed home that is in some cases $5,000 below the current price at the community. This limited-time promotion is available at communities including:

Tuttle Estates in Plainfield, where 248 single family homes have three to six bedrooms and 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 bathrooms, two, three or four car garages, first floor dens (per plan) and base prices from $248,000 to 303,400. Full basements are standard in the six plans, which range from 1,843 to 3,500 square feet and walk out and look out basements are now available.

Windett Ridge in Yorkville where the 277 single-family homes on 1/4 acre home sites include brick exteriors and full basements and opportunities for look out and walk out basements. Five fully merchandised models are now open for touring. The five single family plans at Windett offer 2,190 to 3,048 square feet with three to five bedrooms, 2 1/2 to four baths and two car or three car garages. Four season rooms, mid level dens and luxury master suites are available. Base prices range from $236,200 to $285,700.

Windsor West in Sugar Grove, where fewer than 30 homes remain for sale in the single-family home community. Eight single family floor plans are offered with 1,964 to 3,590 square feet range from $252,900, The homes have three to six bedrooms, 2 1/2 to 4 1/2 baths.
