Ellwood Model Now Open at Devonaire Farms
Februrary 13, 2006

The U.S. Census Bureau projects that 7,918 people will turn 60 each day in 2006. That amounts to 330 people every hour. With so many Boomers turning the big 60, many will consider downsizing.

Toward that end, Wiseman-Hughes Enterprises is opening the Ellwood, a fully decorated ranch designed especially for the Baby Boomer generation. Priced from $223,900, the 1,789-square-foot Ellwood has three bedrooms, two baths, nine-foot first floor ceilings, a Great Room that opens to the kitchen and breakfast area, as well as a brick exterior and two-car garage.

Boomers can tour this home at Devonaire Farms in Dekalb, a community of 330 homes ranging from 1,614 to 2,992 square feet with three to five bedrooms, 1-1/2 to 3-1/2 baths and attached two and three-car garages, per plan. Base prices range from $214,600 to $255,100; six decorated models are available for viewing.

"The Ellwood is decorated in earth and spice tone hues and demonstrates how smaller homes can live better," said Gail Payonk, director of marketing for Wiseman-Hughes. "The home has plenty of storage opportunities for all of the "stuff" that has accumulated over the years with a bit of drama added to appeal to the Boomers need for style."

Part of that pizzazz is the open design of the Ellwood. Upon entering, there are views to the dining room, Great Room and breakfast areas accented through a wide foyer and archway.

The dining room offers plenty of seating for six to eight guests as well as wall space for that special heirloom hutch or buffet.

The Great Room offers an optional fireplace and skylights as well as a media wall, ideal for today's entertainment centers and plasma televisions. Close by is the kitchen with breakfast room flooded with natural light on two sides of windows. A breakfast bar joining the spaces gives guests that perfect spot for mingling with the evening's hostess and cook when entertaining.

Down the hall is the master suite, which offers numerous options such as a sitting area and enlarged bath with separate shower and whirlpool tub. Across the hall are two secondary bedrooms, one of which can easily function as a den. Across the foyer is access to the lower level, which can be finished for additional entertainment and living space.

A laundry room offers ample space for a coat closet, washer, dryer, laundry tub and a convenient seat for removing muddy shoes or placing heavy packages upon entering the home. A three-car garage and Wiseman-Hughes' signature four-season room are also popular options.

Homes at Devonaire Farms feature pre-finished trim and doors, Armstrong vinyl flooring, General Electric appliances, stainless steel sinks, Delta faucets, and pantries (per plan).

Exteriors feature brick fronts (per plan), asphalt driveways, six-panel steel front doors, sodded front yards with seeded rear and sides, and full basements.

Optional features at Devonaire Farms are three or four-car garages, four-season rooms, bay windows, fireplaces, whirlpool tubs, and extended family rooms.
